Preach It

I’ve had it with the
New Age Guy
Lord, save me from the
Sensitive Man
(Liz Phair can have him!)

Preach it to me
Let me know that you’re hard
Preach it to me
Devoid of emasculated vanity
Preach it to me
Remind me that weakness isn’t privilege
Preach it to me
In all your tattooed and over muscled splendor

Remind me that airports
Can been the meeting of the Gods
And how choices have results
And that who I am
Is my own damned fault
And my own damned glory.

Preach it with your handmade life
And Xeroxed books
That you peddled from a backpack
And into Borders.

While you did it for yourself
And a stranger’s gratitude means little
Thank you for the way you

Preach it.
